| Being green is about global respect with local responsibility. At CGL we’re accustomed to thinking on a global scale and operating at the local level. So naturally our green efforts start in the little things we do at our Headquarters—like printing on both sides of the paper (100% PCW content & FSC certified), shunning disposable kitchen supplies, recycling toner cartridges (rebates given to charity), and so on. But as a growing leader in world-wide logistics, our green mission gets broader. We strive to replace paper with technology, use sustainable suppliers where possible, and influence the industry. Even our On-site Asset Retrieval service helps our clients recycle or reuse old assets. |
CGL Recognized as a SmartWay Transport Partner
In an effort to support the interests of our clients and future generations, CGL is dedicated to the principals of corporate responsibility. We continually seek more efficient and sustainable transportation business processes and strive to influence the industry to do the same. As part of our green mission, we have completed the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Freight Logistics Environmental and Energy Tracking (FLEET) Performance model and have met the requirements to be recognized as a SmartWay Transport Partner.
Through this innovative partnership, we maintain a voluntary commitment to work with the EPA and our supplier network to improve air quality, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, save fuel, and protect public health. The partnership is also representative of our promise to encourage our business partners and clients to make better choices for their businesses, the environment and the global community.
As an industry, here are a couple initiatives we should all consider in our quest to take charge of our Corporate Responsibility:
- Logistics methodology that reduces a shipment's footprint
- Electronic Waybills and documentation processes that keep more trees rooted in the ground
- Cargo ship bilge practices that protect unique marine ecosystems
- Truck and Airline fleets operating on Biodiesel or other Alternative Fuels that cut emissions
- Warehouses and office buildings meeting efficient LEED certifications enhancing human and environmental health
